Pick a part time/retail job that you like so that "just making money" is still fun. While it doesn't further my skill in my field of interest, it was still enjoyable and I looked forward to going to work.

I loved the fast atmosphere, the community culture, the experience of the job. I was a closer and so I learned how to perform all positions in the store, as well as the deep cleaning and schematics of the store. I enjoyed working at my own pace and helping others in my team succeed.

What I liked
It is fast paced and a fun environment to work in. I love my coworkers and the job itself is never boring. I really enjoy making all the different drinks and making customer connections. The benefits for this company are fantastic and very accommodating for all different circumstances people may be going through.
What I wish was different
The training is a bit rigorous and may be overwhelming for some people. However, my coworkers really helped me out and taught me and guided me through anything I was uncertain of.
Advice
Do not let the first couple of weeks scare you away. It is a lot of information to take in and learn, but you will adapt quickly and pick things up.

I wasn’t good at managing my time this summer. I wish I had been more proactive at taking charge of my schedule.
Advice
If you’re going to do school and work, be prepared to sacrifice time elsewhere. For me, I lost a lot of social time to school.
