What I liked
I like a fast-paced work environment with a lot of variability day-to-day. I also really enjoy working with people in customer service.
What I wish was different
I didn't have a lot of flexibility with hours.
Advice
Communicate with your coworkers and managers. Often the things you have issues with have simple solutions as long as you are clear.

What I liked
great people and benefits especially for students, I can take online classes through ASU for free as a part time employee. I also had two other jobs and a research/consulting project that I was working on and they were really flexible with me.
What I wish was different
It is a stressful environment and I think that it would have been helpful to have had less turnover but it is hard to control that. Always training new baristas was a challenge.
Advice
I think that working in food service at least once in your life is important for EVERYONE. You learn so much and it is good networking practice as well as just some general life perspective. I met a woman who offered me a job at her bcorps company through the drive through because we started talking about ethical and sustainable business and creating shared value. There are opportunities everywhere if you're open to them.

What I liked
The people I work with are amazing and the craft of beverage making is a unique skill I now possess.
What I wish was different
The company does not care much for its employees/partner despite running the business with the claim of putting partners first. It would be nice if they actually did.
Advice
The customer is not always right, but neither are you. Communication and understanding will always be a two way street, even across the counter. Working for a retail company doesn't make you less human and you shouldn't be treated as if you are not.

What I liked
I loved working here as it is a job that is very rewarding. The initial learning curve is pretty high but the satisfaction that comes with the challenge is really rewarding. A good wage, manager and co-workers really made it a great place to work.
What I wish was different
Wish I had applied sooner.
Advice
Only work if you're a team player, team work is extremely important especially during rush-hours. Also apply for the job in the summer helps as you can train when there is less customers making it less stressful in the beginning.

What I liked
Its a very well ran company with a lot of upside in terms of being able to develop customer service skills, multitasking ability and social skills. I think the social skills perspective of this job are an absolute necessity in 'real life' jobs and is an essential skill in terms of being able to fit into any workplace or deal with any kind of person.
What I wish was different
I wish that this job offered a more professional approach to management and had more opportunity in terms of developing leadership skills.
Advice
This is definitely a job that I personally believe should be done by everyone for at least 6 months, if not more.

What I liked
I really loved the crew at that Starbucks. I was able to transfer from my original store (2515 Sunset Blvd West Columbia!), and the atmosphere at the one in Hermitage was all around amazing. The customers were sweet, my team was amazing, and I had a great time and improved my barista skills greatly. I won parter of the quarter even though I was only at that store for a couple months, and now I'm a supervisor at the Five Points Starbucks
What I wish was different
I wish that that store could be my home store - I miss them every day
Advice
Even if you know that you won't be somewhere for long, give it your all. Connect with customers and coworkers alike and really get that energy going. Have a good time while you can, and actually enjoy your work
