Storytelling and Content Intern

What I liked

The experience living in a new city learning about new opportunities.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship was less computer-based.

Advice

To put full effort into making your resume and cover letter specific for each position applying for.

Research assistant

June - September 2018 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I liked doing research along really established researchers in the public health field.

What I wish was different

A lot of the people in my office worked remotely. I would have really liked to engage more with individuals in my office.

Advice

Don’t be afraid to apply for jobs you don’t match all the qualifications for. I was the only non graduate student on the team and it gave me a unique experience working with more established students and researchers.

Storytelling and Content Intern

May - August 2018 • Federal Way, WA

What I liked

Learning more about how World Vision works aside from going out in the field. I loved the professionals I worked under and how I was able to learn a lot from my supervisors about Content Marketing and non-profit organizations.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had gotten to work on more projects and get a larger variety of experience rather than working on two large projects for the entire summer.

Advice

This experience was very worthwhile and WVI is an incredible place to intern. One piece of advice I would say is, take advantage of the professionals in the office you work with and take every opportunity to listen and learn from them.
