United States Attorney's Office

Summer Legal Intern

June - August 2020 • Washington, DC

What I liked

I liked being exposed to legal materials and terms.

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have been able to participate longer.

Advice

I would advise an intern to wake up two hours earlier than you need to and start your day off fresh.

Criminal Undergraduate Intern

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I appreciated the office culture and the intern cohort. The AUSAs, Paralegals, and Clerks were all very friendly and approachable. Throughout the summer, we had planned intern events and brown-bag lunches, which allowed the interns to get to know one another.

What I wish was different

I wish undergraduate interns had more opportunities to do more legal-intense work. For example, because there was a cohort of legal interns, undergraduate interns were not involved in the legal writing and research aspects of the office.

Advice

Get to know the AUSAs, go to court hearings, and make connections with interns and others in the office!
