Graphic Design Student Assistant - Job Description
The Graphic Design Student Assistant supports the Student Wellness Center (SWC) and helps to expand SWC education efforts and outreach to the SJSU community. Assignments include flyers, posters, calendars, brochures, reports, infographics, signage, and web-based materials. The position reports to the Health Communication Specialist.
Responsibilities
- Help to conceptualize and create eye-catching materials to effectively promote Student Wellness Center events, programs, and services
- Provide consultation and feedback to Student Wellness Center staff and student assistants
- Occasional support for Wellness Lounge services or Student Wellness Center outreach
- Collaborate with staff and established partners to find the balance between form and function
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Be willing to work with project management tools (i.e. Trello, Google Workspace/G Suite)
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong experience with portfolio in graphic design
- Ability to prioritize and manage tasks independently to complete projects by established deadlines
- Familiarity with web design, animation software/multimedia programs, as well as ADA compliance requirements
- Understanding and appreciation of the rich diversity of cultures and identities that help to define SJSU; ability to use inclusive language and integrate social justice practices into daily work
- Ability to learn and adhere to laws and regulations unique to a health environment related to confidentiality (HIPAA, Title IX, etc.)
- Must be enrolled in at least six units and be in good academic (minimum GPA is 2.75) and judicial standing with SJSU
- Eligible and committed to working for the full 2025-2026 academic year
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of graphic design and key design software preferred (i.e. Canva, Adobe Suite including: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Publisher, etc.)
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service orientation
- Ability to work as part of a cohesive team
