Customer Technologies Student Engineer

Position: Customer Technologies Student Engineer
Location: Palo Alto, CA
Job Summary:
EPRI is looking for a Summer Student Engineer to assist with research and technical support for EPRI’s smart energy technology projects in the Power Delivery and Utilization sector. Project focus is on applying software for automation in the electric sector with a focus on business customer energy management.
This student engineer will execute research studies in support of one or more of the following areas: plug load energy management, municipal water pumping, and system integration (e.g., operational systems for control, SCADA, telemetry, and data historian).
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Identify and document industrial and/or water pumping station processes and operational constraints. Depict processes with a flow diagram
  • Assist with setup/configuration of graphical user interface displays using commercially available human machine interface (HMI) software
  • Assist with general data analyses, compiling information and summary reporting
  • Review supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems and associated databases to summarize capabilities and available interfaces for data exchange with plant controls in industrial and water sectors
Education & Background:
  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate university pursing a degree in an engineering discipline, computer science, or economics
  • Background or experience in electricity or energy systems 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communications and analytic skills
  • Comfortable with information organization using Microsoft Excel and presentation using Word and PowerPoint or Visio
EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
