About YWCA Greater Austin

YWCA Greater Austin is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. Incorporated in 1907, YWCA is and always has been a service organization that focuses on the health and human service needs of women and girls, most of whom are low to moderate income.

YWCA supports policies that contribute to the elimination of racism, including but not limited to eliminating racial profiling, increasing immigrant rights, retaining and strengthening affirmative action, reducing hate crimes, and increasing education around institutionalized and systemic racism and discrimination.

Through our counseling and referral center we offer linguistically appropriate, affordable individual, couple, family, and group therapeutic counseling services, on- and off- site based on community need. Our Training Institute provides professional and personal development workshops to licensed professionals and community members. Care Coordination connects our clients to vital services in the community and assists with applications and meeting basic needs.

YWCA practices from a trauma informed perspective, utilizing innovative modalities such as Somatic Experiencing, TBRI, and EMDR. Students will abide by best practice and ethical models for clinical services and documentation as outlined in YWCRC policies & procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulations and will maintain a commitment to social justice, trauma recovery, elimination of systemic oppression, multiculturalism and continual professional development.
