Harrison Center

About Harrison Center

The Harrison Center for the Arts is a force for cultural development in Indianapolis and a model for community arts, education, and urban revitalization programs across America. We address community problems with cultural solutions: art, music, education, and grassroots activism. We cultivate emerging art patrons by redefining the boundaries of artist and audience: everyone is part of the art.

OUR MISSION

The Harrison Center for the Arts seeks to be a catalyst for renewal in the city of Indianapolis by fostering awareness, appreciation, and community for arts and culture.

Creative Placemaking Intern

June 2019 - August 2019 Indianapolis, IN
“The Harrison Center provided many opportunities to grow as an artist and gave insight in how collaboration between nonprofit agencies work with the local community and government. In addition to connecting me to many great people, I learned how to better work in collaboration with others on projects and share those creations. The environment was encouraging even, to interns, and pushed us to be bold in asking questions, trying new things and pursuing people around us. ”

“I loved getting paid to make block prints over the summer. The Harrison Center actively cares about community and is spearheaded by a lot of powerful and inspiring ladies. Overall an incredible experience and one of the best summers I've had in a long time.”
