Farm Fresh Rhode Island

About Farm Fresh Rhode Island

Farm Fresh Rhode Island began in 2004 as a student thesis project at Brown University. We have grown briskly, capturing the public interest in locally grown food and translating it into sales for Rhode Island farmers, fishers, and food producers. Strongly mission driven, Farm Fresh RI achieved non-profit status in 2007, and has since implemented a variety of programs to enhance the local food system of the Rhode Island region, with particular attention to farm viability and low-income access to fresh food. We operate a wide range of education and market-building programs (retail, wholesale, processing) that engage and connect tens of thousands of RI, MA, and CT eaters with thousands of RI, MA, and CT farmers.

Farm Fresh Rhode Island Farmers Market Welcome Table Manager

June 2019 - October 2019 Providence, RI
“I liked that I was able to be at the Farmers' Market every Saturday. I helped manage the welcome table which mainly involved processing credit cards, debit cards, and EBT cards so that folks could purchase tokens to use at the farmers' market. The EBT sales were especially interesting to get to do because I now have experience using the FINI incentive grant that lets FFRI double the SNAP dollars that are used. The customer could buy gold $1 coins and receive the same amount they bought of those in silver $1 coins. A very helpful program that increase accessibility of local produce to low income SNAP customers. It was always very busy.”
